Candy Gold
When one gets married for the second time at 52 years old, the cake decision becomes more important than the dress, shoes and ring decisions combined! I really wanted to find the cake for my wedding that not only looked great but tasted even better. I went on a journey of cake tastings and cake research that was unbelievable. My cake investigatory process put Sherlock Holmes to shame. I went to the North Shore to some little bakery because Martha Stewart had been there. I went to Cape Cod to some woman who won a cake competition on the Food Network. I had meetings with every cake company, big and small, within a 50-mile radius. I even tried to get appointments with Sylvia Weinstock and Duff Goldman, Ace of Cakes. Nothing was tempting my sweet tooth, and when you’re a girl named “Candy”, you can’t help but have a keen sweet tooth. Then, someone mentioned Montilio’s. We got many birthday cakes from Montilio’s when they were located in Dedham while I was growing up, so in the eleventh hour, in an attempt to find SOMETHING we liked, my fiancé and I drove to Quincy. The rest is history. We loved the cake. We loved the pastry. We loved the people. We drove home and couldn’t believe that we had finally made a decision. It was quick and that easy. My cake was wonderful, white on white, with a couple of layers of lemon- traditional. Yum! Great for all our guests. We also love cannolis and we wanted something special featuring that delicacy, so your chefs helped me create, the Chocolate Cannoli Cake- just for us! It was awesome! The wedding was amazing and our cakes were incredible. We have been back several times for birthday and anniversary cakes. The Montilio’s tradition continues. So that is my story, thanks Montilio’s! We are very happy customers!
